Here are a few of my favorite places in the city with great drinks and memorable views to celebrate summer!
Press Lounge at the Ink48 Hotel, Hells Kitchen
653 11th Ave, New York, NY 10036
The glass balcony makes it feel like you’re floating above the buildings below. The Press Lounge is very spacious indoors and out on the roof. The cocktails are decent. but I prefer to stick to wine or hard liquor. Grab a seat by reflecting pool or lounge chairs and toast to the first official day of summer!
Salon de Ning at the Peninsula Hotel, Midtown East
700 Fifth Ave, New York, NY 10019
One of my absolute favorite rooftops in the city! Decorated in 1930s Shanghai splendor, Salon de Ning is a beautiful and timeless place. East meets West in the finest manner. Lounge indoors or outside on these plush seats while you enjoy sipping on fine wine or a cool, creative cocktail. Excellent selection of moderate and expensive wines - whichever your budget allows. Worth the splurge. It's also the perfect place for a date!
The Treehouse Bar at David Burke Kitchen, SoHo
23 Grand Street, New York NY 10013
Great place to grab daytime drinks! The “Island” vibe is soothing and relaxing. Try the cocktails here - they're quite creative and delicious. They give quite a punch and are every bit refreshing. Even in the hottest temperatures, there’s always a cool breeze.
Jimmy at the James, SoHo
15 Thompson Street, New York, NY 10013
Smallest and coziest of all the rooftops, but there’s a pool! Sadly, it's only for hotel guests. You'll still be able to take a seat indoors or outside and around the pool (because that's why I'm writing about these rooftops) take in the spectacular city views from downtown. There's lots of wines and spirits to choose from, and the cocktail list is impressive and quite potent too.
Refinery Hotel Rooftop, Midtown West
63 W 38th St, New York, NY 10018
And the newest of the five, Refinery Hotel Rooftop, is open 365 days a year! There are two different areas to enjoy - I like the rustic garden decor outside and how it makes you feel like you’re hanging out on your own private patio. However the indoor seating is comforting as well, that is if you're afraid of staying out too long in the sunshine. Bring your friends and imbibe in some unique cocktail creations while you talk about your summer plans.
Raise your glasses and toast to the best season of the year!
